That’s right it has been twelve years since the first Starcraft has come on scene. Now that Blizzard has finally finished this long overdue project, let’s take a look at the pros and cons.
Pros:
- Graphics are phenomenal and each race is dynamic in their on way.
- Online play with friends is easy and simple.
- Saving replays to watch your mistakes and get better.
- Adds a newer, improved Starcraft to competitive tournaments.
Cons:
- Only one campaign.
- No Lan available, have to be logged into battle.net to play.
First thing’s first, the graphics in this game have been overhauled from the original Starcraft and it looks spectacular. Every little detail in this game from the cut scenes in the campaign to your drones mining for you will blow you away . The battles you encounter will be a fire work show with your opponents exploding with blood and mechanic parts flying everywhere. Now that I have made you jizz your pants, lets talk about the different races.
The main race, meaning the only race you can play in the campaign, is the Terran. They are a human race, with robotic type armors and futuristic technology we can only dream of. Fire power is their specialty, so if you like big explosions and nukes going off then this is the race for you.

My personal favorite, the Protoss are a sentient humanoid race. They don’t look as vicious and scary looking as the Zerg, but don’t let that fool you because these Protoss pack a punch. They use cybernetics and warp technology to win their battles, such as force fields, laser beams, and cloaking. If you are a sci-fi fanatic then choose the Protoss!

Last but not least, are the Zerg. The Zerg are a terrifying alien-arachnid race. These vicious creatures incorporate biotechnology to morph into stronger, faster, scarier units that will obliterate their opponents. Zerg are tough and deadly with all their biotechnology abilities, so don’t be afraid to try them out!

The online game play that has evolved from Battle.net and Blizzard has made gaming online with friends amazing. Now that you have real friend IDs you can now easily chat and play with your friends easy as 1, 2, 3. You can join in a party with your friends and que up for games quickly. Not only can you talk to your friends on Starcraft, but you can also talk to your friends playing any other Battle.net game which makes any game you are playing that much more enjoyable.

Being able to save your footage, then go back and watch the games is going to improve everyone’s skill. Think of it as a football coach or player. They go back and watch their previous games to study and learn mistakes they might have made and correct them. You also have the option to send specific replays to your friends to show off your skills.
Stracraft has been the most popular real time strategy (RTS) for years and now they have a new freshly painted Starcraft II. Starcraft: Brood War is a big name in the World Cyber Games (WCG) that has been around for over ten years! So by adding this newly improved Starcraft we may see more professionals come out of the woods to get their hands on it. With Major League Gaming (MLG) picking this up for their pro circuit we will get to see new faces shine in the world of gaming.
Now that I have given you all of the amazing things about this game you are probably thinking what possibly could be bad about this game? Well not much but some little things here and there. First is the fact there is only one campaign. You only get to play Terran, which isn’t a bad thing but I would love to see the story of other races as well. So that doesn’t seem like to much of bad news, right? Wrong. Blizzard has made it so you cannot play SC2 on Lan. Which means you will have to log into battle.net every time you want to play this game. Not being able to play this on Lan is going to tick off quite a bit of players because you can not just meet up with some friends pop in your cables and play. Now you ALWAYS need to have an Internet connection to play SC2. What people have to understand is that Blizzard is doing this for a piracy issue so Blizzard is covering their own butts on losing out on money.
The amazing graphics, great campaign, fun interactive online system, and the always fierce competitive play makes this game a must have whether or not you are any good at RTS games.
